What makes a snowstorm a blizzard?
To be considered a blizzard, a snowstorm must have winds over 35 miles per hour. The temperature must be at or below 20 degrees Fahrenheit (-6 degrees Celcius).
A blizzard can be scary and dangerous. Strong winds can whip snow around and create a "white out", making it hard to see anything, even a few feet away.
Driving becomes very dificult. Cold temperatures can freeze skin quickly, a condition called "frostbite".
If you are caught in a blizzard find shelter!
